About This Experience

Your Private Island Adventure Starts Here

Picture this: it's just you, your crew, and a traditional Thai longtail boat cutting through crystal-clear water. No schedules. No crowded tour groups. No rushing. Just five glorious hours exploring Koh Samui's most beautiful bays at your own pace.

This is what island hopping should feel like.

Why Private Longtail Boat Beats Everything Else

The Authentic Thai Experience

Longtail boats aren't just transportation - they're part of Thai culture. These iconic wooden boats with their long propeller shafts have been navigating these waters for generations. Your captain? A local who grew up on these islands. He doesn't follow a script. He takes you to the spots that are actually good TODAY, based on current conditions, tides, and where the marine life has been hanging out lately.

Sitting on the wooden benches, feeling the spray of warm seawater, watching the Thai islands slide past - this is the Thailand you came for. Not some sterile speedboat experience. The REAL thing.

Total Freedom = Total Adventure

Here's what makes this special: YOU'RE IN CONTROL.

Found an amazing coral reef teeming with fish? Stay there. Spend an hour snorkeling if you want. The boat isn't going anywhere without you.

Discover a hidden beach with nobody on it? Anchor up. Swim. Sunbathe. Explore. Take 500 photos. Whatever.

See a sea turtle? Follow it. Your captain will keep the boat close while you drift along watching this ancient creature glide through the blue.

Other tour boats? They're on a schedule. They've got 40 people to manage. They stop for exactly 30 minutes then MUST move to the next spot. You? You've got five hours and zero rules.

Small Group = Better Experience

Longtail boats fit 6-10 people comfortably. That means:

  • Couples: This becomes your romantic private adventure. Just the two of you and the captain.
  • Families: Your kids can move around safely and snorkel at their own pace.
  • Friend Groups: Split the cost between 6-8 friends and this private boat is often cheaper than a crowded group tour.
  • Solo Travelers: Treat yourself to pure freedom for five hours.

The Best Snorkeling Spots Around Koh Samui

Your captain knows dozens of spots. You'll visit 3-4 depending on conditions and what you want to see. Here's what's possible:

Koh Tan (Turtle Island) - Classic Snorkel Escape

What makes it special: A quiet sister island south of Samui with calm waters and healthy reefs. Perfect first stop for private charters.

The snorkeling: Shallow reefs, tropical fish, occasional turtles, beginner-friendly visibility.

The vibe: Postcard Gulf of Thailand island hopping without the big-boat crowds.

Koh Madsum (Pig Island) - Fun & Photogenic

What makes it special: Famous free-roaming pigs on the beach plus decent snorkel patches just offshore.

The snorkeling: Easy entry, colorful fish, sandy bottom patches mixed with coral heads.

The vibe: Playful stop — beach photos, short snorkel, then cruise on.

Coral Cove - Protected Bay Beauty

What makes it special: A sheltered cove between Chaweng and Lamai with clear water on calm days.

The snorkeling: Near-shore reef, good for mixed ability groups, easy boat access.

The vibe: Intimate and flexible — stay longer if the water looks perfect.

Big Buddha Viewpoint Cruise - Iconic Samui Shoreline

What makes it special: Cruise past Samui's iconic Big Buddha headland and nearby rocky points.

The snorkeling: Spot-dependent; captain picks the best reef pockets based on wind.

The vibe: Classic "we're really on Samui" scenery from the water.

Taling Ngam / West Coast Hidden Bays

What makes it special: Quieter west-coast water and fewer day-trip boats.

The snorkeling: Smaller reefs, clearer mornings, more private beach anchors.

The vibe: Secret-Samui energy — empty beaches and unhurried floating time.

Laem Set / South Coast Calm Spots

What makes it special: Sheltered southern shoreline good when other sides are choppy.

The snorkeling: Gentle conditions for families and newer snorkelers.

The vibe: Stress-free paradise stop when comfort matters most.

How Your Half Day Actually Works

The Meeting (Flexible Start Time)

You decide when to start. Morning adventure? Meet at 8am. Prefer to sleep in and start at 11am? Totally fine. Sunset trip? Let's go at 2pm.

Meet your captain at Bang Rak Pier (or arranged local pier) (or we can arrange pickup from your hotel for extra cost). He'll have your longtail boat ready, equipment loaded, and a smile that says "Today's going to be good."

The Planning (5 Minutes That Matter)

Before you leave, quick chat with your captain:

  • What do you want to see? (Turtles? Best coral? Empty beaches?)
  • How's your swimming?
  • Any must-visit spots?

He'll suggest the best route based on today's weather, tides, and your preferences.

The Journey

The longtail engine fires up with that iconic roar. You cruise out into open water. Islands and coastline slide past. This is where you realize you made the right choice.

Stop 1: First Snorkeling Spot (45-60 minutes)

Captain anchors in perfect position. Gear up. Mask on. Step into warm tropical water. Snorkel as long as you want.

Stops 2 & 3: More Exploring (Your Choice)

Maybe three shorter stops. Maybe one perfect spot for 90 minutes. BOTH ARE FINE. This is your time. Your boat. Your adventure.

The Return

Five hours goes FAST. The cruise back to Bang Rak Pier (or arranged local pier) gives you time to dry off, look through photos, and already plan when you'll do this again.
